A Terrible Place To Live

I started this Blog to help travelers and people in tucson see what I have seen over the past 10 years, All I could find on the internet were Pictures of Mt Lemon( which is partially burnt down), The desert Museum, Sabino Canyon, Neighborhoods North of River, and Saguaro National Monument. This only represents 10% of Tucson, The majority of this town is completely run down, crime ridden, and down right disgusting.
I was born and raised here, over the past 10 years I have watched the town I once loved change astronomically, It is a terrible place to live, and an even worse town to try and raise a family.
It is a great place to live if you enjoy carrying a gun in your waist, dealing drugs, and robbing innocent people, if this is the lifestyle you choose to live than you will feel right at home here in Tucson.
The Summers are unbearable it gets to be 120 at times, with very few activities for relief, there are some resort pools to cool off at, if you can get a room, if you do they are discounted so much in the summer that the pool is filled with low life's and drunks.
There is truly no relief from the heat you are a prisoner in your own home during the day time hours, you are forced to go out at night when it is cooler, needless to say this is when the majority of thugs, gang bangers, and drug addicts roam the streets.
We do not have any sports teams to watch, everyone down here makes a huge deal about a college football team (The Wildcats) a total joke! They tailgate down by the U of A before games, it is sad to watch this town try and do it like the big boys (AZ Cardinals) up in PHX.
Tucson has a terrible problem with the homeless population, they are not like trendy homeless kids they are like, scary, drug addict mentally ill homeless people. They flock here due to the dry climate and warm winters, in the dead of summer they move into Psychiatric facilities and shelters, in the winter they roam the streets and stand on traffic islands panhandling.
If you are thinking of moving here "DO NOT DO IT" If you live here and are thinking of leaving, get out before it gets worse, or you end up dead. I will be leaving here real soon and never coming back.

  1. Tucson is actually a lovely place. Not once have i seen or heard of any gangs here. Sure every town has its ups and downs. I am not saying Tucson is a perfect place, but neither is anywhere else. You cannot say that Tucson doesn't have any public pools because we sure do. Tucson is not a horrible hell hole like your blog states.

    1. I'm sorry, this may seem rude, but how naive are you? Tucson DOES have gangs and other things like that. If you have not once seen or heard of it then you must not be paying attention. Sorry, but its the truth.

    2. Tucson has always had gangs - from Mexican Gangs, to Bloods and Cryps to Indian gangs. I have lived here 35 years and have personally known several people in gangs. If you think Phoenix is better in some regard, it is worse. But people here are like a melting pot of a lot of different cultures. And for the most part, if you are cool, no one hassles you. If you're not a pretentious prick, you get along with most people. Are there some bad dudes out there? Sure there are, just like any place that has people in the area. I even lived in the South East corner of Oklahoma for a year back in '96 - '97. I met a few cool people, and I met a lot of red reck, back wood hill billy a-holes. I have lived in EVERY area of Tucson, from slums to foot hills. I have hung out with every color of person you can imagine (even Vietnimese). I have found good people in every corner of Tucson, and bad people as well - just like any American city or town.
The issues with this city are not with the people (criminal, homeless or white collar) - the issue is with the corrupted city government. State and federal, too. The problem is racism and the ridiculous war on drugs and the war on the mentally unstable. I have worked as an IT professional and have done so in the health industry. I can tell you from first hand experience, the mental health system and lack of help to homeless is preposterous, not just here but in ALL of America. You think Tucson is a mecca for heroin issues? My little brother got addicted to that crap and is in prison now because of it, so don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. But he never got any real help, because our system criminalizes addicts rather then tries to help them. And rehabs themselves are criminal, because 1. if you are white and middle class, it all depends on your insurance and 2. it is THE PLACE ADDICTS GET THEIR DRUGS! I know, because I had a "counselor" inadvertently admit to me they were also a dealer of coke and heroin. Is that Tucson's problem? No, because that corruption runs deep in ALL cities and towns. It's everyone's problem. So take your ass to another town or city and give it 5 to 10 years - you'll hate it there, too. Maybe try some homesteading and live off the land? Oh, right, that is illegal, too, unless you own the land and pay those taxes. Until you realize just how much of a consumer cow me, you and everyone else in the world are, you will NEVER be free to live without some form of bullchit of another. If you don't like where you live, instead of complaining about it, do something. Start with Ballot Initiatives. Write to your representatives and vote for people from local to state to federal who are willing to stand up to corruption. If there is no choice because the people to vote for ALL suck, then do something about that. Start demanding from your party to look for viable candidates instead of career politicians or corporate bone smokers. Do SOMETHING other then just complain and criticize, because no matter where you go it's all the same. MOOOooooo!

  4. Yes, Tucson is a Heroin Haven, and many of our youth here are addicted...it just isnt' well known unless you have a loved one who is living it. And this is not effecting the poor...it is middle class families and upper class. I am getting out too. This is a shit hole.

  5. And yes, there are gangs, and they are in the good hoods too. My son's best friend was in one, and is dead now.

  6. I am not in agreement with many of your evaluations with Tucson but agree that the abandoned houses and businesses are a blight on our city. In our subdivision we bought houses as a group and fixed them up so we wouldn't have the empty eyesores in our city. If you see any abandoned houses please email me the address and I will look into the house to see if we can help clean it up. brudykip@gmail.com
